GLS Anti-Bullying Policy & Disciplinary Code

1. Policy Statement

GLS maintains a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of bullying. Any act of physical, verbal, social, or cyberbullying will result in strict disciplinary action, including suspension or rustication (expulsion).


2. Definition of Bullying

Bullying is any intentional, repeated, or severe act that harms, intimidates, humiliates, or isolates another student.

Includes:

  • Physical: Hitting, pushing, damaging belongings
  • Verbal: Insults, threats, name-calling
  • Social: Exclusion, spreading rumors, public humiliation
  • Cyber: Harassment via social media, messages, fake accounts

3. Scope

This policy applies:

  • On campus
  • During school transport
  • At school events
  • Online/digital platforms where school community members are involved

4. Reporting Mechanism

  • Students, parents, and staff can report incidents to:
    • Class Teacher
    • Campus Coordinator
    • Designated Discipline Officer
  • Anonymous reporting may be allowed, but false reporting will also be penalized

5. Investigation Process

  • Initial review within 24–48 hours
  • Formal inquiry by Discipline Committee
  • Written statements from all parties
  • Evidence review (CCTV, messages, witnesses)
  • Decision within 3–5 working days

6. Disciplinary Actions (Escalation Model)

Level 1: Minor / First Offense

  • Written warning
  • Parent notification
  • Counseling session
  • Behavior improvement agreement

Level 2: Moderate / Repeated Offense

  • Final warning
  • Mandatory counseling
  • Suspension (1–5 days)
  • Written undertaking from student & parents

Level 3: Severe / Intentional Harm

  • Immediate suspension
  • Disciplinary hearing
  • Final probation or rustication

7. Rustication (Expulsion) Policy

A student will be rusticated immediately or after disciplinary review in cases of:

  • Physical assault causing harm
  • Persistent bullying despite prior warnings
  • Cyberbullying causing serious reputational or emotional damage
  • Group bullying or coercion
  • Threats, blackmail, or harassment
  • Any act bringing serious disrepute to the institution

Rustication Terms:

  • Immediate removal from campus
  • Cancellation of enrollment
  • No fee refund
  • Official notice issued to parents
  • Transfer certificate may mention disciplinary grounds

8. Rehabilitation Clause (Optional)

  • A rusticated student may apply for reconsideration after 6–12 months
  • Requires:
    • Behavioral assessment report
    • Written apology
    • Proof of counseling/rehabilitation

9. Responsibility Matrix

  • Students: Maintain respectful behavior
  • Teachers: Report and intervene immediately
  • Management: Enforce policy without bias
  • Parents: Cooperate in corrective actions

10. Non-Negotiables

  • No favoritism
  • No cover-ups
  • No “verbal warnings only” culture
  • Every case must be documented
